24 July – 8 August 2026. Six nights on the water in Semporna, three nights deep in the Kinabatangan jungle, five at Rasa Ria — and one very long flight in between.
Coral atolls, river jungle, a colonial port town, and a long resort exhale. Scroll across to see the bigger picture.
A water villa in the Coral Triangle — the most biodiverse marine environment on Earth. Expect overwater sunrises, turtles gliding beneath the deck, and some of the best snorkelling in Asia.
A deep dive into the most accessible jungle wildlife corridor on Earth — wild orangutans, pygmy elephants at sunrise, proboscis monkeys leaping the canopy, crocodiles by torchlight.
Five nights at Rasa Ria. Culture, island beaches, wildlife, a proper spa day, and real rest. KK is where the trip slows down beautifully.
Reading these on the plane will save someone in the family a small disaster. Read them.
Conventional sunscreen is banned near Sipadan and all TAR Marine Park islands. Buy reef-safe in Singapore — choices on the ground are limited.
1 SGD ≈ 3.4 MYR. Carry cash for Semporna markets and Sepilok entrance — RM30 adult, cash only at the gate.
Grab works in KK and Sandakan city. Pre-arrange private drivers for Sepilok and Kinabatangan. Download offline maps before flying.
Long sleeves and light trousers for every river cruise. Mosquitoes are active at dusk. Bring a light jacket — the 05:30 dawn cruise gets cold.
No flash photography at Sepilok. Stay quiet on river cruises. Never feed wildlife. Follow guide instructions without exception.
Mantis prawns half an arm long, RM20 each. Flower crabs, RM60 for fifteen. Sea urchin. Tiger prawns. Order these every night.
July–August is dry season on the east coast. Pack a light rain jacket for Kinabatangan afternoons. Humidity is high everywhere.
No special vaccinations required. Hep A and Typhoid recommended. Pack motion sickness tablets for boat days — Sipadan transfers can be choppy.
Standard check-in 3 pm. Rasa Ria and Pearl Island can both do early check-in — call ahead. Keep passports easily accessible — you'll show them often.
